Guests travelling with animals that are not legally recognized service dogs will not be accommodated.
Service Dogs
181 Oceanside Inn welcomes legally recognized service dogs in accordance with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act and applicable service dog legislation.
Guests travelling with a service dog may be asked to provide reasonable documentation or identification confirming that the animal is a legally recognized service dog.
Acceptable documentation may include, but is not limited to:
- A Nova Scotia Service Dog Identification Card;
- Service dog documentation recognized by another Canadian province or territory; or
- Documentation issued by a recognized service dog training organization.
Please note: For clarity, generic identification cards, certificates, or tags obtained from online sources alone may not be sufficient to confirm that an animal is a legally recognized service dog.
Requests for documentation are limited to information related to the service dog’s eligibility. Guests will not be asked to provide private medical information unrelated to the service dog.
Service Dog Requirements During Your Stay
Service dogs must:
- Remain under the handler’s control at all times;
- Be well-behaved and not interfere with the safety, comfort, or enjoyment of other guests;
- Not cause damage to the property; and
- Not create unreasonable hygiene or safety concerns.
Guests are responsible for any actual damage caused by their service dog or any additional cleaning costs beyond normal housekeeping requirements.
Advance Notice
Guests planning to travel with a service dog are encouraged to notify 181 Oceanside Inn as early as possible after booking.
Advance notice allows us to prepare appropriate accommodations and provide the best possible experience for all guests.
